  About Us

Drama Network is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization based in Akosombo, in the Asuogyaman District of Eastern Region. The organization was founded by a couple who realised that interpersonal communication is very essential to convince people to participate in issues relating to socio-economic development.  Drama Network is at the forefront of today's development dialogue and is addressing the many dimensions of human development, including health, human rights, environment and poverty eradication based on local needs and priorities with major focus on micro-credit.

Drama Network has adopted the strategy of using “Social Drama” as a means of educating society on key developmental issues.  This strategy engages the people, promotes participation, discussion and interpersonal communication which are essential to convince people to participate in issues relating to socio-economic development.  This is because Drama Network believes that a nation’s development depends on the development of its people as much as on its infrastructure.

Noting the need to mobilize all levels of government and civil society as a trusted development partner, Drama Network collaborates with District Assemblies, other governmental agencies, private organizations, international and local NGOs, educational institutions, community and faith based organizations in the execution of its work. This is done by lobbying with individual policy makers and caucuses of local leaders/politicians through the use of seminars, sensitization workshops, media programs, film shows, documentaries, talks and BCC and IE&C materials to drive home information on key developmental issues.

Drama Network’s work is targeted mainly at grassroots communities, underprivileged persons, such as rural women, low-income level workers in the informal sector, children and persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Geographical areas covered by Drama Network since its establishment include the Asuogyaman, Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo, Akuapem North, Akuapem South Districts in the Eastern; Dangbe West and Dangbe East Districts in the Greater Accra; Akatsi, North Tongu and South Tongu Districts in the Volta Regions. The organization is eligible to work throughout the whole of Ghana.
